Your Why for weight loss

How to find your true reasons to commit to a diet and succeed

Do you remember that you've committed to reading the entire article. Well done! This is Part II of III! I can see how serious you are about achieving a weight loss goal and become a healthier and energetic person with positive outlook.

If you haven't read Part I for any reason, where I shared two easy steps every dieter should to do after breaking diet's rules in order to get back on track towards achieving a weight loss goal fast and without blaming and criticizing herself or himself, I invite you to read it first.

Easier said than done - how to really push yourself to start doing something

You need to remind yourself why you wanted to lose weight in the first place. It isn’t because your favorite musician or movie star was following the diet or that it is a trendy diet or even due to your best friend following the weight loss program. I am sure you have your own personal reasons for why you wanted to lose weight, and those reasons usually come from deep inside. You need to be honest with yourself and think hard about the real reasons why.

Is it because you want to look better in your wedding dress? Do you want to impress your family members by looking good in an amazing dress for a special occasion you are going to in a few months? Do you want to become healthier and have more energy when you play with your kids or grandchildren? Do you want your children to learn to eat and live healthier by becoming a role model for them so they can live a long, fulfilled and healthy life? Or do you want to just be more active in your everyday life? Do you want to enjoy where you live, visit new places you have always wanted to see, meet new and exciting people, and do things you would never do if you stay overweight? Everyone has his or her own reasons for losing weight.

What are your true reasons?

Close your eyes and imagine what your reasons are. Imagine how it feels when you achieve your ideal weight. Think about how much energy you have, and how you spend your time and with whom. Visualize how happy you feel doing all these new things in your life and being the person you want to be.

Now open your eyes. Use your positive feelings and the image you had in your mind and focus on your diet and staying on track. Don’t forget to visualize all those pictures and you will achieve your goal. I have to be honest with you that it is most likely you will break the diet and more than once. You just need to accept it when it happens. It is a process of building a new habit. You need to stop blaming yourself and reminding yourself why you started the diet and imagine the reasons why you want to lose weight. Positive thinking will help you get back on track.

What if it does not work for me?

Well, if it does not work for you, it is absolutely normal. Don't go back to a negative thinking, read the next and the last part, where we will discuss how to get back to a diet if nothing else works for you.
